A southbound car on I 705 near Urbana struck a Md 80 underpass wall at 1 15 am killing six men aged 22 to 24. All six were from Pennsylvania and five were Penn State graduates with one senior. Frederick County Seeks 1.5 Million Roads Budget and Bridges Plan
Frederick County Roads Department head William Fout urged commissioners to approve a 1.5 million FY budget, about 100000 less than last year, citing lower debt service and equipment costs. He proposed a 995700 dollar capital program including Reichs Ford Bridge work, bridge replacements, road widening and overlay, dirt road hard surfacing, aerial photography, and a bridge inventory study, with 169 small bridges targeted for repair or replacement and a plan to widen 12 foot roads to 20 feet at about 25 thousand per mile.
