Health bill talks near deal in Maryland legislature

Negotiations on a health insurance reform package continued as House and Senate negotiators narrowed differences on two major points. Delegate Casper Taylor said time is short with only two weeks left in the 1993 session and aims to move a Senate-passed bill to the House floor by week’s end. The measures require insurers to offer a standard benefits package for small businesses and seek to curb malpractice insurance costs while reducing denials for costly illnesses.
