Treasure from a trash pile in Williamstown

Ed Bohl found a seven inch unguentarium bottle from ancient tombs in a trash pile. A note inside dated 1933 claimed it was buried with mummies about 2000 years ago and colored by earth. Experts at Williams College and museums dated it to 150 to 90 CE, Syria or Palestine, in excellent condition.

Nutrition spending questioned by GAO audit

Washington AP report says the federal government spends about 70 million dollars a year to inform the public about nutrition but auditors cannot judge usefulness. The GAO notes many consumers are confused and lack confidence about their diets. In 1976 USDA spent 63.5 million and HEW 5.8 million on nutrition materials, with no clear assessment of consumer needs or effective informing methods.
