Fourth War film recalls Cold War tensions and aging villains
A 1989 review notes The Fourth War stars Roy Scheider and Jurgen Prochnow in a border clash saga set in West Germany Czechoslovakia with Canada filming scenery. The piece flags dated headlines and suggests South African criminals and Colombian drug lords as viable alternate villains while praising John Frankenheimer's direction and the film’s tense, bone chilling atmosphere.
