Frederick County approves Thomas Johnson High bid amid cuts
The Frederick County School Board accepted two of eleven alternates for the Thomas Johnson High School project. They approved a base bid from Henry A. Knott contractors of Baltimore for 35,070,000 plus 45,000 for a sprinkler system, minus 23,000 for a decorative wall omission. The board warned the county has 4,911,969.20 left in school funds after commitments, and debated further alternates to save or spend on lockers, flooring, shelving, and other items. A separate note covers the Soviet Akademik Berg sailing to the Bering Sea to study deep sea fishery viability.
