J Pierpont Morgan testified before Special Examiner Mabey in New York amid Peter Power v Northern Pacific Railroad. He answered for two and a half hours, revealed some reluctance on client relation questions, and joked about stock prices and railroad purchases while denying warned holdings.
Senator Hanna met with J. P. Morgan, George Perkins, and Widener and Griscom of Philadelphia to discuss Pennsylvania coal, with officials saying a strike is unlikely this year as operators may meet miners demands. Morgan may sign contracts recognizing the United Mine Workers, and Hanna left confident. A Shamoka rumor denied claims of a three day week lockout by local colliery officials.

In Chicago on March 27 the National Millers Federation formed, uniting state associations, the National Millers Association, and the National Winter Wheat Millers’ Association with total capital of 100 million dollars and annual flour output of 190 million barrels. Officers include President Barney Eckhart, Vice President Henry Little, Second Vice President E. G. Stanard, and Treasurer W. C. Elis. The board lists A. L. Misier and others.
