C&O Canal Towpath Walks Continue in Piedmont District
The Piedmont District of the National Park Service again hosts C and O Canal Towpath walks. The season opened March 6 with a 200 mile walk from Monocacy Aqueduct to Lockhouse No 27 led by Ranger Chris Kinneary. Upcoming Saturday's walk starts at historic Ferry Hill Place and covers James Rumsey’s Flying Teakettle site and Civil War river crossings. Previous walk March 6 lasted nearly three hours with sections at Antietam Creek Ranger Station and historic Iron Works.
