Elks Leader to Visit Here on Tuesday

Ronald J. Dunn Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks will visit the local lodge Tuesday. Dinner at 7 p.m. followed by an 8 30 p.m. meeting and initiation of new members in his honor. Dunn, a Oneida N Y lawyer and former judge, has held many Grand Lodge offices since 1929 and led the New York State Elks Association. He has long served in legal circles and charity drives.

County Youth Shows Top Swine at Eastern National Hog Show

Frederick County youth showcased the champion 4-H Open class barrow at the Eastern National Spring Market Hog Show held at Baltimore Union Stock Yards. Wayne Gaver of Middletown sold a 200 pound Hampshire to Schulberry-Kurdle Co Esskay of Baltimore for 1.00 per pound. Other Maryland winners included David R Feeser of Taneytown with a reserve champion 4 H and FFA trio and F C Ernsty and Son of Clear Spring with a reserve champion open class trio. Both trios sold to Manger Packing Co for 21 cents per pound.
