Plane Crashes On South Mountain Near Locust Grove
A light single engine Skyhawk crashed on top of South Mountain near Locust Grove during a snowstorm. Three Bechtel Corporation workers from Charleston Middletown and Dover escaped serious injury. The pilot Charles West and two passengers were treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital. State Police investigators led by Lt. Carroll Cook processed the scene at Narrow Ridge near War Correspondents Memorial.

County Snowstorm Surprises Residents With Fresh Coat
A spring snowstorm swept the county this morning thinning flowers and grass under a white cover. Temperatures cooled with rain turning to snow and roads grew slick as 0.05 inch of precipitation fell overnight. The Weather Bureau warned of 20s tonight and a sunny Sunday ahead. Palm Sunday 1942 marked a severe 17 inch county snowstorm beginning March 28.

First Lt. Harold W. Welch, 24, of Detroit, was released by Soviet authorities at Helmstedt after parachuting from a damaged RB66 escort plane. Hijacking of Cuban Helicopter Ends in Death at Key West
