Montgomery County to enact development impact tax plan

Montgomery County Executive Douglas Duncan signed a development impact tax law aimed at funding transportation projects including the Montrose Parkway. The plan, expected to raise 6 to 8 million annually, earmarks revenues for land acquisition and construction of the 367.6 million Montrose Parkway and other traffic relief measures.

Fire Destroys Ceiling at Madras Palace Gaithersburg

Fire at Madras Palace Restaurant in Diamond Square on Bureau Drive caused ceiling damage and the business will stay closed until inspection. No injuries reported. damage about 2000 dollars. Fire officials traced the blaze to duct work and estimated quick containment.
