Rowe seeks habeas corpus for wife Stella Rowe
Edger Rowe petitioned Chief Judge Hammond Urner for a writ of habeas corpus to recover his wife Stella M Rowe from William Freed who she had been living with. Evidence showed Rowe and Stella married three years ago near Carrall county and had been living near the city. Freed faced charges for carrying a concealed weapon and adultery after the couple traveled to York and returned to their home near Thurmont. The court warned all parties to end the liaison. Stella was released from Freed’s custody, and Rowe and Stella left together briefly before she again stayed with Freed. Freed posted bail and faced further court action. Rowe refused to reconcile.
