Middletown High School solar pool heating restored

A 1983 solar energy system at Middletown High School was restored for 43772 dollars with 25000 funded by a Maryland Energy Administration grant. The upgrade reengineered 64 rooftop collectors and related components, cutting pool heating electricity costs by about 4200 dollars annually and enhancing the science curriculum.

Senate panel approves divorce bill easing abuse cases

The Judicial Proceedings Committee voted 8-3 to allow spouses in abusive marriages to obtain a divorce without the current two year wait. The measure adds cruelty or excessively vicious conduct to grounds for contested divorces, while uncontested divorces still require one year. The full Senate endorsement is expected.
