Orioles release seven former Keys players including Dan Reed

Dan Reed and six others were dropped by the Baltimore Orioles after a 1990 season in which Reed went 7-7 with a high ERA down the stretch. Todd Dyess, Todd Freedberg and Joey Rhodes also left Frederick, while Carlos Akins and Scott Connor with the Keys, and Dalton Maine exited the organization. Orioles official Don Buford cited pitching staff balance and potential development timelines as the rationale, noting Reed’s strong first half did not offset second half struggles. Dyess is expected to pursue stock brokering after shoulder injuries limited his 1990 impact.
