Brunswick petition to retain commuter rail gains Senate panel
A 2329 signature petition to keep Brunswick commuter rail service reached the State Senate and Appropriations Subcommittee on SB 1048. Brunswick Mayor Jess D. Orndorff and Todd Allen presented the drive, arguing the service is economically vital as trains may halt at Shady Grove with a new metro station opening in 1983. HB 201 mirrors the subsidy language. The petition distribution spanned Brunswick and Frederick stores and several rail stations, with more signatures expected as organizers consider mailing copies to DOT Secretary James J. O'Donnell.
