Rent Control Bill Extends 90 Days To June 30
Congress sent to President Truman a bill to extend rent controls for about 1,300 communities for 90 days. The same session ordered an automatic freeze on most farm prices at parity. Labor and industry fight over a wage board as Johnson and aides travel. Wage Stabilization Board paralysis looms amid walkouts and looming strikes in shipbuilding, textiles, and meatpacking. House approved the extension by voice vote. Senate had already passed it.
