Suit against high school dropped after six years

The Frederick County Circuit Court dismissed civil complaints alleging unnecessary roughness in a school indoor field hockey game. Plaintiff Elizabeth Goldman sued Middletown High School, Principal David Keech, and Barbara Martin for $200,000 over an incident on Feb 26 1990 involving Jessica Lauder. The court ruled government immunity shielded the Board of Education and its agents from liability in sports injuries, and summary judgment favored defendant Raymond Hartman Jr. The plaintiff sought more time for new counsel, but the extension was denied.
