SEC propose coupon based mutual fund purchases
The SEC votes to allow investors to clip coupons from newspaper ads and mail a check to buy mutual fund shares, removing the prior need to obtain a prospectus and an application first. The move aims to boost competition in the $1.6 trillion industry, lower fees, and improve disclosure alongside an electronic price quote plan for high yield bonds.
