Walking revival draws hundreds to embrace faith in Mount Airy area
In a ten mile radius around Mount Airy the Methodist Evangelistic Mission coordinated by ten charges spurred a walking revival. Nearly a hundred laymen visited homes of over five hundred unchurched people, inviting them to join the church. More than 150 committed to Christian life, with evangelistic services held as guest ministers preached. Ten charges reported 65 evening meetings and an attendance of 3,900, closing with over 300 at altars for rededication. Ministers, led by District Superintendent Dr John C. Millian, deemed the movement unprecedented in their charges.

Lincoln High Faces Closure After Flooded Basement
Water from a rising surface creates a flooded basement at Lincoln school forcing three days of closure and possible relocation of the furnace. Superintendent Eugene W. Pruitt says heat is essential and a sump pump runs at full capacity but cannot remove all the water. He notes drainage changes from a nearby swamp area tied to a housing project worsen the problem and a plan may move the furnace higher with construction of an added section.
