Frederick county Receives 365 Missouri Rabbits for Stocking

Frederick county's allotment of veral thousand Missouri rabbits from the Maryland Conservation Department has been distributed. Of 365 cottontails, 21 were dead on arrival. Rabbits were placed in county sections and कुछ released by interested sportsmen to habitats where they would likely thrive. The imports aim to bolster native stock and aid a population that lacks this hare for hunting season next November. Trout season opens April 1 as anglers prepare by dipnetting and fishing for carp and suckers. Eight thousand trout and 25,000 overall fish are available, but stocking will occur late. Tuscarora Creek and smaller streams will get stock later this week to ready for opening day. State fish hatchery superintendent Albert M. Powell notes weather and water levels affect fishing, with first day expected to see strong sport. Warden Benjamin Phebus urges displaying fishing licenses, with enforcement stepping up for untagged anglers and those lacking proper papers, and recommends carrying the blue identification blank.
