Memphis reports a major Mississippi River crevasse near Nordena Arkansas, flooding Mississippi county and Marion, Ark. with widespread loss of livestock and homes. Rescue boats operate as refugees, many with nothing but skiffs and rafts, seek shelter in Memphis and surrounding towns amid rising flood levels and drowning reports.
Governor Black agreed to extradite Joseph A Tasigi the Turkish consul general at Boston held in New York for embezzlement. The requisition by Governor Walcott Massachusetts is granted with a proviso that New York police delay execution until the U S court decides Tasigi counsel’s habeas corpus appeal.

The Chronicle believes Bulgaria and Servia will stay neutral, but in war Servia may send troops to old Servian to assert claims. The advance of Turkish troops across the frontier is now confidently expected.
Fire at the Ely Walker Dry Goods Co. on March 16 destroyed the seven story granite and steel building at the corner of Eighth Street and Washington Avenue. At least three firemen were injured and two others severely harmed after walls collapsed and a streetcar trap occurred. The stock valued at 1500 dollars was lost, insurance stood at 1 000 000, and the building valued at 200 000 dollars. About a thousand workers lost their jobs due to the blaze.
