Consumer prices rise 0.3 percent in February

Prices climbed 0.3 percent in February as food costs rose while gasoline declined from January and housing construction fell to its lowest in a year. Analysts expect inflation to rise modestly this year with a slowing economy helping the recovery. The CPI shows a 3.7 percent annual pace so far in 1995, higher than 1994.

Sheriff fires Sgt Berger in misconduct case in Frederick County

Sheriff Jim Hagg fired Sgt. Ralf Berger of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office after a three-officer trial found misconduct and obstruction of justice.
