Elderly man survives month stranded in snow in California
In Modesto an 82-year-old man Laurence Shannon survived nearly a month after his wife Emma died in their snow bound motor home on Feb 7. They were returning to visit their daughter when a back road detour left them stranded in Sequoia National Park. Shannon kept warm, rationed food, and was rescued after a passerby spotted their vehicle. His wife’s body was flown out by helicopter and he plans to return home after funeral arrangements. Also Maryland sold 78.8 million dollars in bonds at 4.72 percent, below four year lows, with funds earmarked for public school and community college construction.
