McCarthy Chooses Villain But Names Him by Mistake
Washington, March 16. Senate charges of a high ranking State Department official were linked to Joseph Anthony Panuch, a New York lawyer and former deputy assistant secretary of state for administration. Panuch, born in Prague in 1899 and naturalized in 1921, denied comment after being named by Sen. McCarthy in case notes, while Panuch's career included work in Germany with Gov. Clay and later return to the United States.
