Field Fire Destroys 13 Acres at Loki Kennels West of Hyattstown
A 13 acre field fire on the Loki Kennels property owned by Bertram Vollmers and James Perry near Hyattstown started when Mrs Nancy Perry burned rubbish in an outdoor fireplace. Neighbor Mrs Carlisle Sole spotted the smoke and alerted Hyattstown volunteers who halted the blaze before it reached woodland. The Perry and Sole homes had no phone, delaying the alarm. The fire department contained the fire shortly after noon on Wednesday. The National Geographic Society reports the Scottish Highlands have been nearly depopulated for 200 years.
