Auto Crash Wrecks Pillar at Schley Park Entrance
Three people were hurt when a speeding car struck a stone pillar at Schley Park where North and South College Parkways meet. One sergeant reported serious injuries to a soldier, another soldier and a Wave were badly hurt. They were taken to Camp Detrick hospital and then Walter Reed for further care. The driver was unconscious and trapped, later removed. witnesses noted skid marks and a near demolition of the vehicle. Camp Detrick and city authorities opened separate investigations with no charges filed.

Twelve Die As Army Plane Crashes In Virginia
Danville Virginia March 16 twelve men were killed when a four engined Army cargo plane crashed on Bull Mountain in southwest Virginia. The wreckage spread over brushland and fire aided searchers finding the bodies. Initial reports said nine dead. The plane circled Patrick Springs before hitting the mountainside about 1040 p.m. Bodies to be sent to Winston Salem after transport through timber to the road. Army and volunteers aided in the recovery.

A 23 year old Baltimore woman, Mrs Notta Taylor, was tried before Chief Judge Edward S Delaplaine on charges of marrying Soldier Richard E Lee while still married to James E Taylor. The court sentenced her to 18 months in the penitentiary, suspended. The physician testifying called her mentally emotional and recommended mental observation. State's Attorney William M Storm prosecuted.
