Firemen from four companies battled a 1:44 a.m. blaze in Emmitsburg that left the vacant old Nestor property a total loss believed to contain three standing walls and a chimney. Seven year old dies in Route 15 crash near Thurmont
A two car collision on U S Route 15 three miles north of Thurmont left Robert Ash of Washington D C dead and three others seriously injured. The boy was pronounced dead at Frederick Memorial Hospital. The mother and father Edward and Marion Ash and George Layton Moser were hospitalized. Police say icy roads and unsafe passing caused the crash and charges were pending.
