Frederick Food Fair Opens at New Shopping Center
The Frederick Food Fair store opened with a kickoff ceremony at the new Western Maryland Shopping Center. 350 Frederick residents attended a reception with dignitaries including David Friedland and Joseph Rash. 103 local workers will join 25,600 square feet of sales space, 82 feet of self service meat counters, dairy, seafood and delicates counters. Free sugar giveaways, coupons, and green stamps were promised, along with scholarships from the Food Fair Stores Foundation. Local merchants offered demos, prizes, and events as a four day grand opening, featuring a giant tent, entertainment by Jimmy Dean and the Texas Wild Cats, and a possible 1951 Plymouth prize drawing for attendees.
