Thurmont firemen honored at annual banquet and dance
The Guardian Hose Company of Thurmont held its annual banquet and dance February 28 at the Edwin C. Creeger Jr. American Legion home. A country ham and turkey dinner was served by Legion members. Officers were sworn in and awards given including life memberships to Elwood Biffle and John Firer, plus honorary life memberships to Stitely, Willhide, and Willhide. A watch was awarded to Richard Willhide for 42 years of service. The event featured MSFA chaplain Pierce Damewood and noted 225 company calls, 3,010 man hours, and 1,542 training hours.

Graceham Carnival Update and Vehicle Paint Gift
Company officers reported that after the presentation Mackley received a can of rubbing compounds from Graceham Company 13 to prevent painted damage on Thurmont white vehicles. Donald E. Stitely announced the carnival will run in July 2026 and the new activities building on the carnival grounds is 75 percent complete. The event closed with a dance to Purple Haze.
