Jefferson Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Winners Named
Jefferson Cub Scout Pack 1066 held its Pinewood Derby at Valley Elementary School on March 7. Thirty one cars competed with Robert Fisher winning the pack trophy, and Den 6 fastest Robert Fisher also earning top honors among dens. Nine boys were selected for the Cub Scout Super Derby on March 21 at Singa pore High School gym.

Boston Properties takes over the Southern Pacific land between Martin Marietta and Marriott Headquarters on Democracy Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, to build a multi-tenant office complex. The sale value rose from 4.74 million in 1979 to 11.93 million, with per acre prices jumping from 316000 to 795000.

All 133 amendments from the Appropriations Committee were accepted with few controversial cuts discussed. A partial compromise restored 4 million for driver training by raising the initial license fee from 15 to 20 dollars, offsetting a driver education shortfall.
