Thomas Birley moves into Peter Posie’s Johnsville house. Croft’s Celery and Chamer Bitters advertised by Steiner Bros druggists amid spring ailments.
In a House dispatch a physician named Mary Walker left a roof area with permission of a janitor. A rumor was read from her hat band and a colored employee later placed the hat on the doctor as she entered the committee room. She struck the man when confronted and he fled after dropping the hat.
A Schuylkill county report tells of a rural shooting after a protective father confronted an eloping pair. Ezekiel Henry was killed after a confrontation with Christman who drew a revolver. Henry's attempt to flee left Christman and others wounded. The pair fled, Mary Chi tan aged 19 was left with her father, and the man Henry was pursued and captured later.
A February gathering at the Garrison War az home and Rev E son’s house near Isatts hosted five dining companions and a late supper for Rev. ELL. Watson. Miss Len Thurow and James Fr. vines helped present a prize. Prof. WoL Windsor gave a cake from the ladies. Rev. Watson spoke gratefully. Miss Nannie Duvall and Geo. Peters earned praise for organizing the donation. A note mentions croft hippophitos and Dr. Schley cough syrup advertising.
In Coffee county Mrs Harv ey and Mrs Hughes sisters and farmers wives, quarrelled over a garden incident. Mrs Harvey fatally stabbed Mrs Hughes in the heart with a butcher knife and wounded her nephew who defended his mother. Mrs Harvey was jailed at Elva to await trial. The boy's serious injuries cast doubt on his recovery.
A church pastor, Wor. Burren of Bardist Church, writes to clear his name after two sisters of a deceased woman sought to bury her in town. He says he consented to house the body but the sisters failed to return with burial plans after claiming they would consult their brother Fred. The pastor defends his conduct and denies obstructing the burial, appealing for public understanding and cooperation.
Knox county news reports Marenich Isa, Mr Frank Williard and Edward Garrodt visiting Nentucky. Cornelius Wirts, ill for some time, is out and about. River is high due to rain. J M Miller ill at home. Roads remain in poor condition. Mrs Robert McDuell ill but slowly improving. I N Merchant repairs his canal wharf and will open a flour and ford store this spring.
