A severe snow and windstorm paralyzed Frederick and surrounding county, cutting electric power, halting trolley traffic, and disabling about 2,800 telephones. More than 500 poles were toppled, lines across roads blocked routes, and many plants paused operations. Several towns reported drifts up to four feet and widespread isolation for hours.
Annapolis March 11 President Coolidge filed a Maryland primary ballot petition with Secretary of State to place his name on May 6. He is the first candidate to file in Maryland and would win the state delegation by default if no other Republican candidate files. No court today due to a heavy storm forcing suspension of operations and juror delays.
Emory L. Coblentz and companions were stranded overnight when heavy snow toppled electric wires and poles on the Frederick to Middletown trolley line. After hours of obstruction the car retraced toward Frederick but snow blocked progress at Kaufman's switch. Coblentz, a Potomac Edison director and Central Trust president, reached Frederick early morning. no injuries reported.
Mr. Ivan Routzahn of Middletown travels to Harrisburg to study a special branch of electrical work. Mrs. Doxa Colmics of Wilmington was a guest of Mrs. May Gaylor in Thurmont. Mr. and Mrs. Eden A. Zander of Philadelphia announce the birth of a son on Sunday March 2. They visit Mrs. Zander’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Robinson, in Thurmont. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dotterer of Thurmont spend time in Florida, calling it a highly enjoyable Sunny South trip. Mr. Arthur Late of the U. S. 8 Maryland visits his parents Mr. and Mrs. Geo. F. Late in Thurmont. Mr. FE. KW. Waehter goes to Orlando to be the guest of Mr. Carlton Molesworth. Mrs. Parker Devilbiss near Frederick recently sang with her sister Mrs. Ida Geeser on North Market Street. Miss Sue Stull and Master David Stull of North Market Street visit Mr. and Mrs. Irving Young of Govnos, Md. Miss Lillian Bell spends a few days with friends in Baltimore. Mr. and Mrs. TECG. Zacharias spend time at Atlantic City.
A list of property transfers shows Charles F. Smith to Florence Briggs and spouse in the city for 10 dollars, and numerous county deeds including Central Chemical Company and Farm Bureau transactions. Marriage licenses are issued for couples including George Naylor and Ruth Sensenbaugh, Ralph Schaeffer and Caroline Yingling, and Ernest Payne with Daisy Spangter among others.
Storm knocks out current at 9:20 a m. cutting service to the News Post plant. Power returns before 3 p m as repairs enable limited use of city plants. Officials thank Potomac Edison staff for wiring help. Associated Press dispatches unavailable. wires down between Frederick and Washington hinder reporting.
A bus en route between Frederick and Washington skidded off a road near Gaithersburg injuring seven passengers and one Frederick occupant. The vehicle struck a culvert, two wheels left the road, and glass caused injuries. Passengers were taken to Washington by a second bus after first aid from Dr Trad dox. Democratic women meet to elect delegates to a Maryland federation convention in Baltimore March 21.
One man died and nine were injured when a Pennsylvania Railround wrecking train struck two derailed freight cars at Sted Milla crossing near Elkton Maryland on Monday. The deceased is J T George wreckmaster of Wilmington. Also noted: women entering all branches of business and a Wall Street arrest for crooked dealing in New York.

Mrs. Wm. E. Foreman of Thurmont was rushed to Frederick City Hospital for surgery after a sudden illness. Mrs. Edwin C. Creager returned from Baltimore seeking TolnsTopking Hospital care and shows improvement. Several Thurmont residents including Mrs. W. C. Hammett are reported much improved after serious illnesses. Rev. L. F. Murray of Westminster, formerly Woodsboro, is somewhat improved after a period of serious illness. Cora Beachley of Middletown, at Frederick City Hospital for blood poisoning, worsened but is now recovering. Miss Verna Z. Gardner formerly of Middletown is said to be improved at Sabillasville Sanatorium. Carlton Younkins, about 12 years old, son of Romer and, near Middletown, underwent appendix surgery at Frederick City Hospital after a bad attack.
