New Ruling On Gas Coupons From OPA
The OPA announced a new guidance on March 1 allowing motorists to write new Maryland license tag numbers on gasoline ration book faces when new plates are issued on April 1. Old numbers on coupons may stay. only the book face must reflect the change. Endorsements on coupons themselves need not be altered. Awaiting local verification, there have been no reported enforcement actions yet. The change favors A, B, C ration holders differently, with faster updates for supplemental B and C.

Take Up Bonus Bill Today
The House of Delegates planned to take up the teachers bonus bill at noon. County officials, informed by telegram from I Keller Shank, urged representation at Annapolis to protest the Senate drafted form that splits the cost three fourths to the State and one fourth to counties for 1944 May 1 to 1945 July 1, excluding July August. Officials doubted protest would help as counties would pay the same under administration bill though nine months' bonus and two thirds State paid. A companion bill would pay $180 to State employees beyond teachers. other war time bonuses previously approved in 1943.
