Appraisal standards move to uniform national guidelines
Nationwide effort by eight major appraisal bodies meets at Society of Real Estate Appraisers in Chicago. Two core standards adopted require appraisers to use credible methods and present analyses clearly to avoid misrepresentation. Next meeting Aug 1 aims to finalize standards for adoption by firms and guidance to finance, government, and regulators.
