Three Winchester Years Defended for Hall Site Robber
A one to three year term was given to Charles Augustus Barthlow, 21, for pocketbook snatching in Frederick in January. He pleaded guilty after a mid trial change of plea, with sentencing deferred for a pre sentence report. The court noted a history dating to 1952 and called the crime violent. Also described were other defendants including Alvin Morris, a WWII veteran with a rich service record, awaiting sentencing, and Charles Dodson, a 16 year old facing escape charges with juvenile court waivers sought. Wardens considered suspending sentences for others like Wilbur Ford, 29, charged with grand larceny for a stolen chainsaw, given his rugged life and need for work placement assistance.
