Montevue Home Proposed As Nucleus Of Care Center

The executive director of the Governor's Commission on Nursing Homes proposes Montevue Home as the central hub for a future elderly care system. A 120 bed nursing home planned for Montevue by April 1975 would handle highly skilled cases while Montevue becomes a domiciliary for semi independent elderly with minimal care. The plan envisions rapid transfer between care levels within adjacent facilities to keep patients and families comfortable. The commission notes about 25 percent of nursing home residents might not need to be there and seeks alternatives including small community domiciliaries and in home aides.
