U S officials say Saddam Hussein danger unclear as Iraq releases 35 more allied prisoners including 15 Americans. Weather delays first Iraqi prisoner release. Basra sees clashes with Republican Guards while journalists vanish and refugees report unrest in multiple cities.
Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Clater W. Smith Jr. retires after nearly six years on the bench while battling stomach cancer. Judge G Edward Dwyer Jr. notes the medical retirement took effect March 1. Judge Smith, 59, had been local counsel for the Maryland State Road Commission for 15 years before his 1985 appointment.
