Beds added to ease jail congestion in Frederick County

Frederick County commissioners approved spending 3000 to equip the detention center with 22 new beds to relieve overcrowding. The 134 inmate daily population will rise to 156 with the addition, which is needed until the 40 bed work release center is completed in summer 1987. Half the male cells will be double bunked while 10 beds remain for women.

Aquino frees four political prisoners in Manila deal

President Corazon Aquino's government releases four detainees including Jose Maria Sison and Bernabe Buscayno amid military opposition. Detainees are among an estimated 500 held under Marcos, with Defense Minister Enrile and Gen. Ramos present. Buscayno and Sison, long linked to the CPP and NPA, were among those freed.

Frederick County asks to rename John Kline Road to John Cline

After 16 years the Cline family from Wolfsville urged Frederick County commissioners to correct the road name spelling. The board voted unanimously to change John Kline Road to John Cline, noting the need to honor the original name despite local opposition and consent rules.

Meese backs drug tests for federal job applicants

Montgomery man charged in shooting incident in Frederick

A Montgomery County man identified as George Rhodes II, 32, of Rockville, was charged with attempted murder in a confrontation on West All Saints Street. Maryland to Disburse 36 Million Windfall from Exxon Ruling
