Greyhound strike triggers nationwide disruption and violence
Greyhound unions representing 9,000 employees including 6,300 drivers went on strike after wage talks failed in Scottsdale. The company operated about 20 percent of service using 700 replacement drivers as 1,100 union workers sought higher pay amid a three year deal. Incidents included gunfire near Chicago depots and a shattered window on a Des Moines bound bus. Talks were not scheduled as negotiators planned to return home.
