Bills move to fund EMS through fee increases
Lawmakers weigh two options to shore up the Emergency Medical Services Operations Fund. A $3 tag fee increase would raise $13.1 million in fiscal 2002, while boosting moving violations by $20 could add about $75 million. Analysts expect the District Court to process roughly 500,000 citations. Without new funding, EMS face a $7.3 million deficit next year.
