Frederick to Expand Police Force to Thirty Members
The Frederick City Council increased the Police Department to thirty by appointing six new members effective July 1. New appointees are Vernon Heffner Carl I Bender Harlen W DeGrange Ellis H Schildt James W Stockman and John E Shaffer. Regulars elevated include Charles H McKeldin Denver J Shook and Ellis G Carty.

Union Bridge Church Holds Monthly Devotions and Business Session
The Adult Bible class of the Methodist church met at Miss Fannie Lynn's home for its monthly devotions and business session led by teacher Mrs. G. H. Stocksdale. Mr. and Mrs. Berman Weeks welcome a son Wayne Harley born Thursday June 21. Camp Penial near Thurmont opened for the summer course with the week focused on youths 15 and older and a Men's weekend retreat July 14-15. Mrs. Young visiting her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Russell Marsh left for Allentown, Pa. Ella Graham, injured in a fall, entered Crutching Nursing home in Frederick for convalescence.
