Gulf Refining to Build Drive In Stations Here
Gulf Refining Company announces purchase of the Old Stone Tavern site at West Patrick and Jefferson and the Frazier property at North Market and West Seventh streets for new drive in filling stations. Razings will begin within ten days. both stations expected to open by September 1. Roger B. Wolfe notes fit for tourism, with 112 by 148 foot sites and high visibility. The era’s landmark tavern will be removed to make way for modern service facilities. A long service season at Braddock Heights opens Sunday with a patriotic program led by the American Legion and a Braddock Heights Concert Band under Charles C. T. Stull.

Milk bootlegger sentenced to five to ten years
Thomas J. Glougher, former Meath department secretary, convicted of bribery in a milk bootlegging scheme, received a term of not less than five nor more than ten years. He was linked to a plan involving illicit milk entry to New York and to a witness who testified detailing payments. A stay of seven weeks was granted to allow connection to be dissolved and for a certificate of application of reasonable doubt to be issued.
