County engineers near completion on a 3. mile New Design Road upgrade from Adventist Drive to Elmer Derr Road. The project costs about 127 million with state funds for three bridges over I 70 and L270 ramps, and county funds of 34 million to reimburse the state. The upgrade from Adventist Drive to English Muffin Way will add four lanes, shoulders, and a median, while English Muffin Way to Elmer Derr Road widens to 32 feet with 4 foot shoulders and sidewalks from Adventist Drive to English Muffin Way. No streetlights or traffic signal changes are planned, with signal decisions to follow if traffic increases.

Frederick County to open telework center to curb commutes
Frederick County along with private partners will open a 2,500 square foot telework center on Executive Drive in Omega Center by July. The facility will offer computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, a large video conference room and hourly to yearly rental options for residents commuting out of the county. The project, funded by a 210000 Maryland DOT grant and county matching funds, aims to reduce highway emissions and improve quality of life.
