Halfway house grad wins custody at Avery House opening
In Rockville the Avery House for Women and Children celebrated its opening as six to nine month residencies provide individual and group counseling, nursing care, and parenting programs. The first graduate, a 25 year old with seven children, won custody of her infant, while two healthy babies have been born and others await reunification with their mothers. County Executive Douglas M. Duncan called the facility a vital investment in lives and community, noting it fills a gap in Montgomery County's addiction treatment services.
