Federal funds totaling 15 million aid Frederick airport upgrades
About 15 million dollars in federal aviation money will be allotted to the City of Frederick over five years for airport improvements. FAA engineer Thomas Priscilla Jr urged careful use, noting rules on leasing to nonprofit aviation groups and educational programs. City officials cited plans to buy property, straighten the runway protection zone, upgrade drainage, conduct an environmental study, and rehabilitate the longest runway as part of a master plan to enhance safety and compliance with FAA standards.
