Camp counselor falls 80 feet from Annapolis Rock
Camp Louise and Camp Airy counselor Shelly Roush was critically injured after an 80 foot fall during an Appalachian Trail rock climbing expedition near Annapolis Rock in Maryland. She landed on rocks face first and sustained multiple injuries while rescuers battled heat and rough terrain to reach her. She was airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical condition.

Frederick County residents claimed national marbles titles as 12 year old Emily Martin of Frederick and 14 year old Ben Nelson of Middletown won the 75th National Marble Tournament in Wildwood New Jersey. Emily set records in preliminaries and finals while Ben topped the top 36 boys. they earned crowns trophies and a 3000 dollar scholarship. Sheriff doubts deputy overzealous in DC teacher stop
Frederick County Sheriff Jim Hagg said deputy John Keyser’s use of a service revolver and removal of 58 year old Washington DC teacher Aster Maria Pena from her car during a traffic stop on US 15 north of Thurmont is under review. Pena says she was treated roughly and was en route to a church luncheon when the incident occurred on June 12. Deputies say she was pulled over for driving 38 mph and refused to stop. The sheriff has asked Lt Brian Wilbiar to collect information and determine whether policies were followed.

Judge rules drug evidence illegally seized in Maryland case
