Government probes Dakota truck shift into reverse flaw
The NHTSA is upgrading an engineering analysis after 71 complaints of 1991 1992 Dakota pickups shifting from park to reverse and backing up, causing 14 injuries across 59 cases. More than 150 000 Dakota vehicles are on the road, with Chrysler cooperating. The agency also probes 1993 1996 Ford Mercury Villager minivans for battery explosions amid 37 reports and 16 hood damage incidents, noting maintenance labels and a new battery design. About 400 000 Villagers affected. Ford says changes are not defect related. Additionally 32 complaints involve wheel stud shear on 1995 1996 GM vehicles Buick Roadmaster Chevrolet Caprice Cadillac Fleetwood, with 160 000 on the road.
