Maryland keeps public officials pensions private
Annapolis AP reports Maryland is among a few East Coast states not requiring disclosure of elected officials pension sizes. The Capital of Annapolis survey notes others like New Jersey and Florida publish retired officials pensions while Maryland Delaware Virginia and South Carolina do not. Former Gov Mandel questioned repeatedly over his pension while a 1977 mail fraud conviction later overturned. Public pension disclosure remains debated among lawmakers and ex officials including Gov Hughes and Former Gov Schaefer, with estimates of pension amounts cited for several ex leaders.
