Pittsburg Pennsylvania June 25 A general strike among miners in the Pittsburg district may be declared within the next 24 hours. Patrick Dolan head of the United Mine Workers local district would not confirm or deny the information from strike headquarters. Other sources say President Mitchell ordered local heads to prepare workers to strike. The action would affect about 40 000 men and aim to curb soft coal production feeding eastern anthracite markets. Operators in the district reportedly expect a strike.
Harrisburg June 25. The old Bessemer mill at Pennsylvania Steel Works Steelton was destroyed by fire. Loss set at 25000 dollars. A crane dropped a hot ingot, scattering burning metal and destroying the mill roof, with patterns and building materials lost to the blaze. Mutiny Reported on Russian Cruiser Teretz London June 25. A Daily Graph dispatch says a mutiny occurred on the Teretz of the Russian Mediterranean squadron with several officers purportedly killed, but confirmation is lacking.

Boston is 25. Jane Toppan, sent to Taunton Insane Asylum for Mrs. Gibbs murder, confesses to killing at least 30 victims during her nursing career. She says she could not help the crimes and that many more would have occurred had she not been arrested.
Charles F L Osborne, a carpenter, was arrested on a charge of murdering his wife Mattie Osborne over life insurance. He claims she killed herself after firing a bullet into her brain while he slept. She held four policies totaling over two thousand dollars, with Osborne named as beneficiary. Neighbors say they were devoted. Also noted: a Canadian man debated the White House with delusions and a German torpedo boat No. 42 sank after collision near Kiel, with its commander and three crew missing.
A funeral in a church at Pinerin Crense yesterday was struck by lightning. Twenty five people were killed and as many as twenty were injured in the disaster.
