Commission delays officer elections for Frederick County HRC
The Frederick County Human Relations Commission will retain current officers for at least one more month after a quorum fail during Tuesday night’s meeting. Six members attended, forcing a postponement of elections. President Margaret Hays blamed the turnout on rescheduling from June 30 to avoid a County Commissioners event. Director Lydell Scott reported a recent Fair Lenders meeting with 18 lenders and discussion on lending prejudice. Scott noted minorities face discrimination beyond financial status, and materials may join the county 250th anniversary time capsule. Long-time commissioner John Kinkead resigned for health reasons, leaving three vacancies on the 15 member panel.
