Two Frederick men accused of rape in field attack
Two married men, David Lee Waltz and Douglas Joseph Robinson, were arrested at 5 am on charges of raping a 20 year old in a field south of New Design Road after pursuing the victims near Md 355 and US 15. The victim sustained head and back injuries. both men are jailed without bond.

Asphalt Truck Upsets and Driver Burns in Frederick County
A state roads employee suffered burns, bruises, and abrasions when a dump truck overturned two miles south of Libertytown after skidding 500 feet along the shoulder and 158 feet before overturning. Driver John Martin Brown, 59, Frederick, charged with driving while intoxicated. Truck totaled. Brown treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital. A separate health complaint at Catoctin Mountain Zoo involved a three year old in a rabbit pen. nurse Dianne Mann removed the child and found no health risk. Health director Dr. Charles Spicknall said no health problem beyond play with animals. In another incident, David Horn, 38, Frederick, charged with failing to reduce speed after his truck hit a towed truck on U.S. 40 near the State Police Barracks.

Butcher Shop Fire at Yingling Plant Causes $40000 Loss
A grease fire in a six by eight foot smoking room at the Yingling Brothers meat packing plant in Union Bridge spread through the building to the roof and into the cutting and killing room, damaging equipment. Fire crews from Union Bridge and Westminster battled five water lines for 45 minutes after an 5:30 a.m. alarm. Exact damage to be released later today.

North Vietnamese troops drove South Vietnamese infantry from Fire Base Fuller four miles south of the DMZ and forced retreat from Fire Base Sarge six miles farther south west.
